Datafication in and of Education - Agile EDU has Started
The landscape of datafication and digital education is constantly changing and therefore, Agile EDU takes an iterative, agile approach in its outputs and activities.
From learning management systems and communication software, to teacher dashboards and adaptive learning technologies, more schools are adopting the use of digital solutions. These collect various trace data and learning data that could be harnessed for the benefit of students. Data use in education also raises new questions - from how to ensure privacy and safety, to what kind of data practices are ethical and beneficial for teachers and students.
These are the sort of questions which the Agile EDU project is addressing to identify the key success factors for supporting the implementation of inclusive and high-quality digital education as envisioned by the European Commission's Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027.
Agile EDU will update its outputs throughout the project
The project started with a kick-off meeting on 11 January 2023. The project takes an agile and iterative approach to its project outputs. Case studies, learning stories, the literature review and other outputs will go through a process of development, review, update and validation thanks to expert validation workshops and national Dialogue Labs which will bring together various education stakeholders to contextualise the project material.
The first publication of the project is the literature review titled "Datafication in and of education". This first version also developed an analytical framework that will guide the identification and analysis of case studies.
In the upcoming months, the project will release the results of a survey on the data practices in education of European countries and set out to identify case studies with the guidance of the survey and the analytical framework.
The first verrsion of the literature review will be available online in May, after a review at the 1st expert validation workshop.
